When handling refrigerant (R-12), the following precautions should be observed:\n(a) Always wear eye protection.\n(b) Keep the refrigerant container (service drum) below 40°C (104°F).\n(c) Do not handle refrigerant in an enclosed area where there is an open flame.\n(d) Discharge refrigerant slowly when purging the system.\n(e) Be careful that the liquid refrigerant does not get on your skin.\n\n2. If liquid refrigerant gets in the eyes or on the skin:\n(a) Do not rub the eye or skin.\n(b) Wash the area with a lot of cool water.\n(c) Apply clean petroleum jelly to the skin.\n(d) Rush to a physician or hospital for immediate professional treatment.\n(e) Do not attempt to treat yourself.\n\n3.
