INSPECT DISC, PLATE AND FLANGE\n\nCheck that the sliding surface of disc is not worn or burnt.\nIf the disc is worn or burnt, replace all discs.\nThen check that the sliding surfaces of plate and flange\nare not worn or burnt.\nIf necessary, replace them.\nNOTE: Do not allow the discs to dry out.\nPrepare new discs by soaking them at least two hours in\nATF.\n\nASSEMBLY OF REAR CLUTCH\n(See page AT-67)\n\n1. INSTALL NEW O-RINGS ON PISTON\n\n2. INSTALL REAR CLUTCH PISTON IN DRUM\n\nPress rear clutch piston into drum with the cup side up,\nbeing careful not to damage the O-rings.\n\n3. INSTALL EIGHTEEN PISTON RETURN SPRINGS AND SET\nRETAINER WITH SNAP RING IN PLACE\n\n4. COMPRESS RETURN SPRINGS AND INSTALL SNAP RING\nIN GROOVE\n\n(a) Place SST on the spring retainer, and compress the\nsprings on shop press.\nSST 09350-20013 (09369-20040)\n(b) Install the snap ring with snap ring pliers.\n\n5. INSTALL DISCS, PLATES AND FLANGE\n\nWith low-pressure compressed air, blow all excess ATF\nfrom discs.\nCAUTION: High-pressure air will damage the discs.\nInstall in order: Plate-disc-plate-disc-plate-disc-flange (flat\nend down)\n\n6. INSTALL SNAP RING\n\nCheck that the snap ring ends are not aligned with one of\nthe cutouts.\n\n7. CHECK PISTON STROKE OF REAR CLUTCH\n\nInstall the rear clutch onto the center support. With a dial\nindicator, measure the stroke applying and releasing the\ncompressed air (4 — 8 kgf/cm², 57 — 114 psi or 392 —\n785 kPa) as shown.\nStandard piston stroke: 0.90 — 1.75 mm\n(0.0354 — 0.0689 in.)\nIf not within specification, select a proper flange. There\nare three different thickness.\nFlange thickness: 3.6 mm, 3.8 mm, 4.0 mm\n(0.142 in., 0.150 in., 0.157
