REMOVE REAR SHOE\n(a) Slide out the rear shoe.\n(b) Disconnect the parking brake cable from the parking brake shoe lever.\n\nINSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT OF PARKING BRAKE COMPONENTS\n\n1. MEASURE BRAKE DRUM INSIDE DIAMETER\nStandard inside diameter: 167 mm (6.57 in.)\nMaximum inside diameter: 168 mm (6.61 in.)\nIf the drum is scored or worn, the brake drum may be lathed to the maximum inside diameter.\n\n2. MEASURE BRAKE SHOE LINING THICKNESS\nStandard thickness: 2.0 mm (0.079 in.)\nMinimum thickness: 1.0 mm (0.039 in.)\nIf the shoe lining is less than minimum, replace the parking brake shoes.\nNOTE: In order to maintain effective brakes, replace all of the shoes if the thickness of any one is not within specification.\n\n3. INSPECT REAR PARKING BRAKE LINING AND DRUM FOR PROPER CONTACT\nReplace the brake or lathe the brake disc as necessary.\n\n4. MEASURE CLEARANCE BETWEEN PARKING BRAKE SHOE AND LEVER\nUsing a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.\nStandard clearance: 0 — 0.35 mm (0 — 0.0138 in.)\nIf the clearance is not within specification, replace the shim with one of the correct size.\n\nThickness mm (in.)
