REMOVE ROTOR FROM DRIVE END FRAME\n\nINSPECTION OF ALTERNATOR\nRotor\n1. CHECK ROTOR FOR OPEN CIRCUIT\nUsing an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the slip rings.\nStandard resistance: Less than 3 Ω\nIf there is no continuity, replace the rotor.\n\n2. CHECK ROTOR FOR GROUND\nUsing an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between the slip ring and the rotor. If there is continuity, replace the rotor.\n\n3. INSPECT SLIP RINGS\n(a) Check that the slip rings are not rough or scored. If rough or scored, replace the rotor.\n(b) Using calipers, measure the slip ring diameter.\nStandard diameter: 14.4 mm (0.567 in.)\nMinimum diameter: 14.0 mm (0.551 in.)\nIf the diameter of the slip ring is less than the minimum, replace the rotor.\n\nStator\n1. INSPECT STATOR FOR OPEN CIRCUIT\nUsing an ohmmeter, check all leads for continuity.
