INSPECT VALVE STEM GUIDE WEAR\n(a) Using a dial indicator or telescoping gauge, measure the inside diameter of the valve guide.\nStandard inside diameter: 8.01 — 8.03 mm\n(0.3154 — 0.3161 in.)\n\n(b) Using a micrometer, measure the diameter of the valve stem.\nStandard valve stem diameter:\nIntake 7.970 — 7.985 mm\n(0.3138 — 0.3144 in.)\nExhaust 7.965 — 7.980 mm\n(0.3136 — 0.3142 in.)\n(c) Subtract the valve stem measurement from the valve guide measurement.\nStandard oil clearance:\nIntake 0.025 — 0.060 mm\n(0.0010 — 0.0024 in.)\nExhaust 0.030 — 0.065 mm\n(0.0012 — 0.0026 in.)\nMaximum oil clearance:\nIntake 0.08 mm (0.0031 in.)\nExhaust 0.10 mm (0.0039 in.)\nIf the clearance is greater than following values, replace the valve and guide.\n\n10.
