REMOVE CAMSHAFTS FROM CAMSHAFT HOUSINGS\n(a) Remove camshaft housing rear covers by loosening the bolts.\n(b) While turning the camshaft, slowly pull it out so as not to damage the camshaft housing.\n\n3. INSPECT CAMSHAFTS AND CAMSHAFT HOUSINGS\n(a) Using a micrometer, measure the cam lobes.\nStandard lobe height\nIntake    35.660 — 35.670 mm (1.4039 — 1.0043 in.)\nExhaust  35.662 — 35.672 mm (1.4040 — 1.0044 in.)\nMinimum lobe height\nIntake    35.465 mm (1.3963 in.)\nExhaust  35.467 mm (1.3963 in.)\nIf the lobe height is less than the minimum allowable, the camshaft is worn and must be replaced.\n\n(b) Place the camshaft on V-blocks and measure the runout at the center journal.\nMaximum circle runout: 0.04 mm (0.0016 in.)\nIf the runout is greater than maximum allowable, replace the camshaft.\n\n(c) Using a micrometer, measure the journal diameter.\nStandard journal diameter:\nNo. 1  37.959 — 37.975 mm (1.4944 — 1.4951 in.)\nNo. 2  42.959 — 42.975 mm (1.6913 — 1.6919 in.)\nNo. 3  43.459 — 43.475 mm (1.7110 — 1.7116 in.)\nNo. 4  43.959 — 43.975 mm (1.7307 — 1.7313 in.)\nNo. 5  43.459 — 43.475 mm (1.7504 — 1.7510 in.)\nNo. 6  44.959 — 44.975 mm (1.7700 — 1.7707 in.)\nNo. 7  45.459 — 45.475 mm (1.7897 — 1.7904 in.)\n\n(d) Using an inside micrometer, measure the housing bore.\n(e) Subtract the journal diameter measurement from the housing bore measurement.\nStandard clearance: 0.025 — 0.066 mm (0.0010 — 0.0026 in.)\nMaximum clearance: 0.1 mm (0.004 in.)\nIf the clearance is greater than maximum, replace the camshaft and if necessary, the
