INSTALL CAMSHAFTS IN CAMSHAFT HOUSINGS\n(a) Insert the camshafts into each camshaft housing.\n(b) Install the O-rings and rear end covers.\n\n4. BLEED LASH ADJUSTER\n(a) Immerse the lash adjuster into light oil.\n(b) Insert SST into the plunger hole and slide the plunger\nup and down several times while pushing down lightly\non the check ball.\nSST 09276-70010\n(c) Repeat steps (a) and (b) when the plunger stroke is\nbeyond about 0.5 mm (0.020 in.).\n(d) Replace the lash adjuster with a new one if the plunger stroke exceeds 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) even after\nrepeating steps (a) and (b) several times.\nNOTE: Do not disassemble the lash adjuster.\n\n5. LASH ADJUSTER LEAK DOWN TEST\n(a) Bleed the lash adjuster.\n(b) Using a leak down tester, apply 20 kg (44.1 lb, 196\nN) of pressure to the plunger and measure its slide\ndown speed after it has slid down about 2 mm (0.08\nin.).\nLeak down time: 2 — 7 seconds per 1 mm (0.04 in.)\n(c) Make sure that the match hole on the No. 2 journal\nof the camshaft housing is aligned with that of the\ncamshaft.\n\n6.
