CHECK FIT BETWEEN PISTON AND PIN\n\nRock the piston back and forth on the piston pin.\nIf any movement is felt, replace the piston and pin.\n\n2. REMOVE PISTON RINGS\n\nUsing a piston ring expander, remove the piston rings.\nKeep the rings for each cylinder separated.\n\n3. DISCONNECT CONNECTING ROD FROM PISTON\n\n(a) Using needle-nose pliers, remove the snap rings from the piston.\n\n(b) Heat the piston in hot water to approx. 60°C (140°F).\n\n(c) Using a plastic-faced hammer and driver, tap the pin lightly to remove the pin from the piston.\n\nNOTE:\n• The piston and pin are a matched set.\n• Keep the piston, piston pin and rings and connecting rod together for each cylinder.\n\nINSPECTION OF PISTON AND CONNECTING ROD ASSEMBLY\n\n1.
