REMOVE FIELD FRAME WITH ARMATURE FROM MAGNETIC SWITCH\n\n(a) Disconnect the lead wire from the magnetic switch terminal.\n\n(b) Remove the two bolts. Pull out the field frame with the armature from the magnetic switch.\n\n(c) Remove the O-ring.\n\n2. REMOVE STARTER HOUSING FROM MAGNETIC SWITCH ASSEMBLY\n\nRemove the two screws and remove the starter housing.\n\n3. REMOVE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY AND GEARS FROM MAGNETIC SWITCH ASSEMBLY\n\n4. REMOVE STEEL BALL\n\nUsing a magnet, remove the steel ball from the clutch shaft hole.\n\n5. REMOVE BRUSHES AND BRUSH HOLDER\n\n(a) Remove the end cover from the field frame.\n\n(b) Remove the O-ring\n\n(c) Using a screwdriver, separate the brush and brush spring, and remove the brush from the brush holder.\n\n(d) Pull the brush holder off the armature.\n\n6. REMOVE ARMATURE FROM FIELD FRAME\n\nINSPECTION OF STARTER\n\nArmature Coil\n\n1.
