INSPECT UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS AND DUST COVERS\n(a) Inspect the ball joints for excessive looseness.\n• Jack up the front of the vehicle and place wooden blocks with a height of 180 - 200 mm (7.09 - 7.87 in.) under the front tires.\n• Lower the vehicle until there is about half a load on the front coil springs. Place stands under the vehicle for safety.\n• Make sure the front wheels are in a straight forward position, and block them with chocks.\n• Using a lever, pry up the end of the upper and lower arm, and check the amount of play.\nMaximum ball joint vertical play:\nUpper 0 mm (0 in.)\nLower 0.3 mm (0.012 in.)\nIf there is play, replace the ball joint.\n(b) Inspect the dust cover for damage.\n\n20. CHECK AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OR MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL OIL\nCheck automatic transmission or manual transmission and differential for oil leakage.\nIf leakage is found, check for cause and repair.\n\n21.
