INSPECT COUNTER GEAR\nUsing a micrometer, measure the outer diameter of the counter gear journal.\nMinimum diameter:    27.860 mm (1.0988 in.)\n\n4.    INSPECT SYNCHRONIZER RINGS\n(a)    Turn the ring and push it in to check the braking action.\n\n(b)    Measure the clearance between the synchronizer ring back and the gear spline end.\nStandard clearance:    0.8 — 1.6 mm\n                        (0.031 — 0.063 in.)\nMinimum clearance:    0.6 mm (0.024 in.)\nIf the clearance is less than the limit, replace the synchronizer ring.\n\n5.    MEASURE CLEARANCE OF SHIFT FORKS AND HUB SLEEVES\nUsing a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the hub sleeve and shift fork.\nMaximum clearance:    1.0 mm (0.039 in.)\nIf the clearance exceeds the limit, replace the shift fork or hub sleeve.\n\n6.    INSTALL HUB SLEEVE NO.3 SHIFTING KEYS AND SPRINGS TO COUNTER 5TH GEAR\n(a)    Install the counter 5th gear and shifting keys to the hub sleeve.\n(b)    Install the shifting key springs under the shifting keys.\nNOTICE:    Install the key springs positioned so that their end gaps are not in
