INSTALL COMPANION FLANGE\n(a) Using SST, install the companion flange on the shaft.\nSST 09557-22022\n\n(b) Coat the threads of a new nut with MP grease.\nUsing SST to hold the flange, tighten the nut.\nSST 09330-00021\nTorque: 1,850 kg-cm (134 ft-lb, 181 N·m)\n\n8. CHECK FRONT BEARING PRELOAD\nUsing a torque wrench, measure the preload of the back-lash between the drive pinion and ring gear.\nPreload:\nNew bearing         9 — 15 kg-cm\n                    (8.7 — 13.9 in.-lb, 1.0 — 1.6 N·m)\nReused bearing 5 — 8 kg-cm\n                    (4.3 — 6.9 in.-lb, 0.5 — 0.8 N·m)\n• If preload is greater than specification, replace the bearing spacer.\n• If preload is less than specification, retighten the nut 130 kg-cm (9 ft-lb, 13 N·m) at a time until the specified preload is reached.\nIf the maximum torque is exceed while retightening the nut, replace the bearing spacer and repeat the preload procedure. Do not back off the pinion nut to reduce the preload.\nMaximum torque: 3,450 kg-cm (250 ft-lb, 338 N·m)\n\n9. CHECK RUNOUT OF COMPANION FLANGE\nUsing a dial indicator, measure the lateral and radial runout of the companion flange.\nMaximum lateral runout: 0.1 mm (0.004 in.)\nMaximum radial runout: 0.1 mm (0.004 in.)\nIf the runout is greater than the maximum, inspect the bearings.\n\n10. STAKE DRIVE PINION NUT\n\n11.
