Differential\n\n2.\tCHECK RING GEAR RUNOUT\n\tIf the runout is greater than maximum, replace a new ring\n\tgear.\n\tMaximum runout: 0.10 mm (0.004 in.)\n\n3.\tCHECK RING GEAR BACKLASH\n\tIf the backlash is not within specification, adjust the side\n\tbearing preload or repair as necessary.\n\tBacklash: 0.13 – 0.18 mm (0.0051 – 0.0071 in.)\n\n4.\tCHECK TOOTH CONTACT (See page RA-37)\n\n5.\tMEASURE DRIVE PINION PRELOAD\n\tUsing a torque wrench, measure the preload of the back-\n\tlash between the drive pinion and ring gear.\n\tPreload (at starting):\n\t5 – 8 kg·cm (4.3 – 6.9 in.·lb, 0.5 – 0.8 N·m)\n\n6.\tCHECK TOTAL PRELOAD\n\tUsing a torque wrench, measure the total preload.\n\tTotal preload: In addition to drive pinion preload\n\t4 – 6 kg·cm (3.5 – 5.2 in.·lb, 0.4 – 0.6 N·m)\n\tIf necessary, disassembly and inspect a
