INSPECT AND ADJUST THROTTLE CABLE\n(a) Check that the throttle valve is fully closed.\n(b) Check that the inner cable is not slack.\n(c) Measure the distance between the outer cable end and\nstopper on the cable.\nStandard distance:\n0–1 mm (0–0.04 in.)\nIf the distance is not standard, adjust the cable by the adjust-\ning nuts.\n\nG04232\n\n6. INSPECT AND ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION\nWhen shifting the shift lever from the N position to other posi-\ntions, check that the lever can be shifted smoothly and accu-\nrately to each position and that the position indicator correctly\nindicates the position.\nIf the indicator is not aligned with the correct position, carry\nout the following adjustment procedures:\n(a) Loosen the nut on the control shaft lever.\n(b) Push the control shaft lever fully rearward.\n(c) Return the control shaft lever 2 notches to N position.\n(d) Set the shift lever to N position.\n(e) While holding the shift lever lightly toward the R position side,\ntighten the shift lever nut.\n(f) Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves\nforward when shifting the lever from the N to D position and\nreverses when shifting it to the R position.\n\nNeutral Position\n③\n①\n②\nLoosen this nut.\nAT3184\n\nG04245\nN Position\n\n7. INSPECT AND ADJUST PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION\nSWITCH\nCheck that the engine can be started with the shift lever only\nin the N or P position, but not in other positions.\nIf not as started above, carry out these adjustment proce-\ndures:\n(a) Loosen the park/neutral position switch bolt and set the shift\nlever to the N position.\n\nG03674\n\n(b) Align the groove and neutral basic line.\n(c) Hold in position and tighten the bolt.\nTorque: 13 N·m (130 kgf·cm, 9 ft·lbf)\nFor continuity inspection of the park/neutral position switch,\nsee page AT1–81.\n8. INSPECT IDLE SPEED\nIdle speed:\n700 ± 50 rpm\n(In N position and air conditioner
