INSPECT RADIATOR CAP\nNOTICE: When performing steps (a) and (b) below, keep the ra-\ndiator pump tester at an angle of over 30° above the horizontal.\n(a) Using a radiator cap tester, slowly pump the tester and check\nthat air is coming from the relief valve.\nPump speed:\n1 push/3 seconds or more\nNOTICE: Push the pump at a constant speed.\nIf air is not coming from the relief valve, replace the radiator\ncap.\n(b) Pump the tester several times and measure the relief valve\nopening pressure.\nPump speed:\n1st time\n1 push/1 second or less\n2nd time or more\nAny speed\nStandard opening pressure:\n93–123 kPa\n(0.95–1.25 kgf/cm2, 13.5–17.8 psi)\nMinimum opening pressure:\n78 kPa (0.8 kgf/cm2, 11.4 psi)\nIf the opening pressure is less than minimum, replace the ra-\ndiator cap.\n\nP11506\n\n3. INSPECT COOLING SYSTEM FOR LEAKS\n(a) Fill the radiator with coolant, and attach a radiator cap tester.\n(b) Warm up the engine.\n(c) Pump it to 147 kPa (1.5 kgf/cm2, 21.3 psi), and check that the\npressure does not drop.\nIf the pressure drops, check the hoses, radiator or water\npump for leaks. If no external leaks are found, check the heat-\ner core, cylinder block and cylinder head.\n4.
