INSPECT CAMSHAFTS AND BEARINGS\nA. Inspect camshaft for runout\n(a) Place the camshaft on V–blocks.\n(b) Using a dial indicator, measure the circle runout at the center journal.\nMaximum circle runout:\n0.08 mm \"(0.0031 in.)\nIf the circle runout is greater than maximum, replace the camshaft.\n\nB. Inspect cam lobes\nUsing a micrometer, measure the cam lobe height.\nStandard cam lobe height:\nIntake\n44.570–44.670 mm (1.7547–1.7587 in.)\nExhaust\n44.770–44.870 mm (1.7626–1.7665 in.)\nMaximum cam lobe height:\nIntake\n44.42 mm (1.7488 in.)\nExhaust\n44.62 mm (1.7567 in.)\nIf the cam lobe height is less than minimum, replace the camshaft.\n\nC. Inspect camshaft journals\nUsing a micrometer, measure the journal diameter.\nJournal diameter:\n28.949–28.965 mm (1.1397–1.1404 in.)\nIf the journal diameter is not as specified, check the oil clearance.\n\nD. Inspect camshaft bearings\nCheck the bearings for flaking and scoring.\nIf the bearings are damaged, replace the bearing caps and cylinder head as a set.\n\nPlastigage\n\nE. Inspect camshaft journal oil clearance\n(a) Clean the bearing caps and camshaft journals.\n(b) Place the camshafts on the cylinder head.\n(c) Lay a strip of Plastigage across each of the camshaft
