REMOVE IGNITION COILS ASSEMBLIES\n(See ignition coils removal)\n\n2. INSPECT ELECTRODE\nUsing a megger (insulation resistance meter), measure the insulation resistance.\nStandard correct insulation resistance:\n10 M Ω or more\nIf the resistance is less than specified, proceed to step 4.\nHINT: If a megger is not available, the following simple method of inspection provides fairly accurate results.\n\nMegger\nM Ω\nGround\nIG0147\n\nSimple Method:\n(a) Quickly race the engine 5 times to 4,000 rpm.\n(b) Remove the spark plug.\n(c) Visually check the spark plug.\nIf the electrode is dry...OK\nIf the electrode is wet...Proceed to step 4\n(d) Reinstall the spark plug.\n\nN00917\n\n3. REMOVE SPARK PLUGS\n\nI61451\n\n4. VISUALLY INSPECT SPARK PLUGS\nCheck the spark plug for thread damage and insulator damage.\nIf abnormal, replace the spark plug.\nRecommended spark plug:\nND\nPK20R11\nNGK\nBKR6EP11\n\n5. INSPECT ELECTRODE GAP\nMaximum electrode gap for used spark plug:\n1.3 mm (0.051 in.)\nCorrect electrode gap for new spark plug:\n1.1 mm (0.043 in.)\nNOTICE: If adjusting the gap of a new spark plug, bend only the base of the ground electrode. Do not touch the tip.
