AIR TIGHTNESS TEST\n(a) Install SST to the unions of the rack housing.\nSST 09631–12071\nNOTICE: Do not install union seats.\n(b) Apply 53.3 kPa (400 mmHg, 15.75 in.Hg) of vacuum for about\n30 seconds.\n(c) Check that there is no change in the vacuum.\nIf there is change in the vacuum, check the installation of the\noil seals.\n\n7. INSTALL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY\n(a) Coat the teflon rings, with power steering fluid.\n(b) Push the valve assembly into the rack housing.\n\n8. INSTALL CONTROL VALVE HOUSING\n(a) Coat a new O–ring with power steering fluid, and install it to\nthe housing.\n(b) To prevent oil seal lip damage, wind vinyl tape on the serrated\npart of the control valve shaft.\n(c) Using a hexagon wrench (6 mm), torque the 2 bolts.\nTorque: 18 N·m (185 kgf·cm, 13 ft·lbf)\n\nSST\nR07106\n\n9. INSTALL SPACER, BEARING AND SELFLOCKING NUT\nUsing SST to stop the control valve shaft rotating, torque a\nnew nut.\nSST 09616–00010\nTorque: 39 N·m (400 kgf·cm, 29 ft·lbf)\n\n10. INSTALL RACK HOUSING CAP\n(a) Apply sealant to 2 or 3 threads of the cap.\nSealant:\nPart No. 08833–00080, THREE BOND 1344, LOCTITE\n242 or equivalent\n(b) Torque the cap.\nTorque: 69 N·m (700 kgf·cm, 50 ft·lbf)\n\n11.
