REMOVE SIDE GEAR SHAFT\n(a) 2JZ–GTE M/T only:\nEqually tighten both bolts at the same time and pull out the\nside gear shaft.\nNOTICE: Pull out the side gear shaft until a nut can fit be-\nhind the shaft. Pulling the shaft out too far will damage\nthe dust cover.\n\n(b) Using SST and 2 bolts, nuts, remove the side gear shaft.\nSST 09520–24010\n(c) Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring from the side gear\nshaft.\n\nSST\n\n2. REMOVE SIDE GEAR SHAFT OIL SEALS\nUsing SST, remove the oil seal.\nSST 09308–00010\n\nSST\n\n3. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER RETAINER (AND\nADJUSTING PLATE WASHER)\n(a) Remove the 8 bolts.\n(b) 2JZ–GTE M/T:\nUsing SST, remove the carrier retainer and adjusting plate\nwasher.\nSST 09550–10012 (09558–10010),\n09950–40010\n\nSST\nSST\n\nExcept 2JZ–GTE M/T:\nUsing 2 screwdrivers, remove the carrier retainer.\n(c) Using a screwdriver, remove the O–ring from the
