INSTALL (ADJUSTING PLATE WASHER AND)\nDIFFERENTIAL CARRIER RETAINERS\n2JZ–GTE M/T:\n(a) Place the adjusting washer to the carrier retainer.\n(b) Using SST and hammer, install the carrier retainer with\nadjusting washer.\nSST 09608–35014 (09608–06020, 09608–06150)\nHINT: Do not install a new O–ring and a new oil seal. Install\nit after inspect tooth contact pattern.\n(c) Tighten the 8 bolts.\nTorque: 47 N·m (480 kgf·cm, 35 ft·lbf)\nExcept 2JZ–GTE M/T:\n(a) Using SST and hammer, install the carrier retainer.\nSST 09608–35014 (09608–06020, 09608–06180)\n(b) Tighten the 8 bolts.\nTorque: 22 N·m (225 kgf·cm, 16 ft·lbf)\n13. CHECK RING GEAR BACKLASH\nUsing dial gauge, measure the backlash of the ring gear and\ndrive pinion at 3 positions at least.\nBacklash (average value):\n0.08–0.13 mm (0.0031–0.0051 in.)\nNOTICE: The difference between the maximum and mini-\nmum measured values must be less than 0.05 mm\n(0.0020 in.).\nHINT: The measured values should be used for reference\nwhen selecting washers, so make a memo of the values.\nIf the backlash is not within the specification replace the\nwasher on the ring gear side with one of a different thickness\nusing the following procedure.\n\nAdjusting washer
