MEASURE TOTAL PRELOAD\nUsing SST (or a 36 mm deep socket) and a torque wrench,\nmeasure the total preload.\nSST 09229–55010\nTotal preload (In addition to drive pinion preload):\nNew and Reused bearing\n2JZ–GTE M/T\n0.4–0.6 N·m (4–6 kgf·cm, 3.5–5.2 in.·lbf)\nExcept 2JZ–GTE M/T\n0.5–0.8 N·m (5–8 kgf·cm, 4.3–6.9 in.·lbf)\nIf the measured preload is less than specification, replace the\nwasher of the ring gear's tooth surface side with a thicker\none.\nIf the preload is greater than the specification, replace the\nwasher of the ring gear's tooth surface side with thinner one.\nHINT: Changing the washer thickness by 0.02 mm (0.0008\nin.) will change the total preload by approx. 0.1 N·m (1 kgf·cm,\n0.9 in.·lbf).\n\nR00020\n\n15. INSPECT TOOTH CONTACT PATTERN\n(a) Coat 3 or 4 teeth at 3 different positions on the ring gear with\nred lead.\n(b) Hold the companion flange firmly and rotate the ring gear in\nboth directions.\n(c) Inspect the tooth contact
