Separation of the engine oil dipstick, oil filler cap, PCV hose,\netc. may cause the engine to run out of tune.\n2. Disconnection, looseness or cracks in the parts of the air\ninduction system between the throttle body and cylinder\nhead will cause air suction and cause the engine to run out\nof tune.\n\nELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM\n\n1. Before removing SFI wiring connectors, terminals, etc., first\ndisconnect the power by either turning the ignition switch\nOFF or disconnecting the negative (–) terminal cable from the\nbattery.\nHINT: Always check the diagnostic trouble code before dis-\nconnecting the negative (–) terminal cable from the battery.\n2. When installing the battery, be especially careful not to\nincorrectly connect the positive (+) and negative (–) cables.\n3. Do not permit parts to receive a severe impact during removal\nor installation. Handle all SFI parts carefully, especially the\nECM.\n4. Do not be careless during troubleshooting as there are\nnumerous transistor circuits and even slight terminal contact\ncan cause further troubles.\n5. Do not open the ECM cover.\n6. When inspecting during rainy weather, take care to prevent\nentry of water. Also, when washing the engine compartment,\nprevent water from getting on the SFI parts and wiring\nconnectors.\n7. Parts should be replaced as an assembly.\n8.
