(See page RS–44)\n(b) Do a visual check which includes the following items with the\nsteering wheel pad (with airbag) installed in the vehicle.\n• Check for cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration\nof the steering wheel pad top surface and grooved\nportion.\n\nR06968\n\n2. VEHICLES INVOLVED IN A COLLISION\nIF THE AIRBAG IS NOT DEPLOYED\n(a) Do a diagnostic system check. (See page RS–44)\n(b) Do a visual check which includes the following items with the\nsteering wheel pad (with airbag) removed from the vehicle.\n• Check for cuts and cracks in, or marked discoloration of\nthe steering wheel pad top surface and its grooved\nportion.\n• Check for cuts and cracks in wire harnesses, and for\nchipping in connectors.\n• Check for deformation of the horn button contact plate\nof the steering wheel.\nHINT:\n• If the horn button contact plate of the steering wheel is\ndeformed, never repair it. Always replace the steering\nwheel assembly with a new one.\n• There should be no interference between the steering\nwheel pad and the steering wheel, and the clearance\nshould be uniform all the way around when the new\nsteering wheel pad is installed on the steering wheel.\nCAUTION: For removal and installation of the steering\nwheel pad, see page RS–12, \"STEERING WHEEL PAD\nAND SPIRAL CABLE
