(See page RS–44)\n(b) Do a visual check which includes the following items with the\nsteering wheel pad (with airbag) removed from the vehicle.\n• Check for deformation of the horn button contact plate\nof the steering wheel.\n• Check for damage to the spiral cable connector and wire\nharness.\nHINT:\n• If the horn button contact plate of the steering wheel is\ndeformed, never repair it. Always replace the steering\nwheel assembly with a new one.\n• There should be no interference between the steering\nwheel pad and the steering wheel, and the clearance\nshould be uniform all the way around when the new\nsteering wheel pad is installed on the steering wheel.\n\nREPLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS\n\nIn the following cases, replace the steering wheel pad, steer-\ning wheel or spiral cable.\n• If the airbag has been deployed.\n• If the steering wheel pad or spiral cable has been found\nto be faulty in troubleshooting.\n• If the steering wheel pad, steering wheel or spiral cable\nhas been found to be faulty during the check in items\n1–(b) or 2–(b).\n• If the steering wheel pad has been dropped.\nCAUTION: For replacement of the steering wheel pad,\nsee page RS–12, \"STEERING WHEEL PAD AND SPIRAL\nCABLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION\" and be sure to\nfollow the correct
