Clutch Slipping on R154 - Release Hub Assembled Incorrectly

TransmissionadvancedOP Confirmed
Problem

Clutch was slipping despite having a brand new SPEC Stage 2 clutch disc and pressure plate. The slipping persisted across multiple clutch installations and had been a recurring issue for years, even with the original clutch that came with the car.

Clutch slipping under powerRepeated clutch adjustments did not permanently resolve the issueClutch disc showed almost no wear despite slipping symptomsProblem persisted through multiple clutch and transmission reinstallations
Root Cause

The R154 clutch release hub (throwout bearing carrier assembly) was assembled incorrectly. The original previous owner had installed it wrong, and the current owner unknowingly reinstalled it the same incorrect way on two subsequent occasions when the transmission was removed and reinstalled. The incorrect assembly caused the clutch to never fully engage, resulting in chronic slipping regardless of clutch disc condition.
