7MGE Dies Immediately After Start - Intake Leak and TPS Miswired

Problem

7MGE would start but immediately die within a second. No throttle response, so the engine could not be kept running even by pressing the accelerator. Unplugging the MAF allowed the car to idle but it would still die when given gas.

Root Cause

Two issues: (1) the intake piping had a large hole on the bottom side causing a massive unmetered air leak downstream of the MAF, and (2) the previous owner had the TPS (throttle position sensor) connector hooked up incorrectly.
