Code 13 (Crank/Cam Sensor) Fix - Timing Belt Misalignment on 1JZ JZA70

EngineintermediateOP Confirmed
Problem

JZA70R Supra throwing a Code 13 (crank sensor/cam sensor/ECU diagnostic code). The code appeared only when the clutch pedal was released while in neutral, but did not appear while the clutch was held down. The car otherwise ran and started fine.

Check engine light / Code 13 appearing when clutch pedal releasedNo code present while clutch pedal held downEngine ran fine otherwise with no starting issues
Root Cause

The timing belt had been incorrectly installed by a previous owner. It was off by 4 notches on the exhaust cam and approximately 10 notches on the crankshaft. This misalignment caused incorrect sensor signal timing that triggered Code 13, which became apparent under the slight engine load change when releasing the clutch pedal.
