1JZ VVTi Swap - Turbo Oil Drain Routing to Rear Sump

EngineintermediateCommunity Verified
Problem

When swapping a VVTi 1JZ-GTE into a MK3 Supra with a rear sump oil pan, the stock turbo oil drain pipe does not line up with the rear sump oil return, as the VVTi 1JZ-GTE was only factory-equipped with a rear sump in the rare 1997-2000 JZZ30 Soarers.

Turbo oil drain pipe does not align with rear sump oil returnNo direct bolt-on solution from factory VVTi 1JZ partsFactory rear sump VVTi 1JZ parts are extremely rare
Root Cause

The VVTi 1JZ-GTE turbo oil drain pipe geometry was designed for a front sump configuration in most applications. The rear sump configuration was only used in the 1997-2000 JZZ30 Soarers, making factory-correct rear sump drain parts very scarce.
