1JZ-GTE Non-VVTI Limp Mode at 2300 RPM - Faulty ECU with Blown Capacitors

ElectricalintermediateOP Confirmed
Problem

1JZ-GTE non-VVTI engine stuck in limp mode, cutting out at approximately 2300 RPM despite idling fine. Multiple diagnostic codes thrown (O2 sensor code 21, TPS codes 41 and 47) but replacing the TPS sensor did not resolve the issue. Engine ran the same whether TPS was plugged in or not, and all voltages and grounds tested good at the plugs.

Engine stuck in limp modeRPM cuts out at approximately 2300 RPM when throttle is held downFlash codes 21 (O2 sensor), 41 and 47 (throttle position sensor)Replacing TPS sensor with known-good units made no differenceEngine idles fine and starts without problemsNo difference in running whether TPS is plugged in or not
Root Cause

Faulty ECU with blown/leaking capacitors and damaged circuit board. The bad ECU was generating false TPS and O2 sensor fault codes and triggering limp mode, even though the sensors and wiring were functioning correctly.
