Intermittent No Power and No Start - Bad Alternator Fusible Link

ElectricalbeginnerOP Confirmed
Problem

MK3 Supra had intermittent total loss of electrical power and would not start. Replacing the ignition fuse temporarily restored power, but the problem returned after shutting the car off. When running, the battery light would illuminate and the tachometer and temperature gauge would stop working.

Root Cause

The 1.25A alternator fusible link in the fuse box was burnt and degraded, causing poor contact with the fuse box. The fuse could be wiggled loose by hand, indicating it was not seating properly. This intermittent connection caused the electrical power and starting failures.
