Check engine code 52 (knock sensor fault) appearing on 7MGTE turbo Supra, causing poor running conditions despite knock sensors themselves being functional
The factory knock sensor wiring insulation deteriorates over time, especially at the plugs that snap into the knock sensors. This is particularly common on cars that have sat outside. The knock sensors themselves are usually fine — 99% of the time it is the wiring. Because knock sensors require shielded wiring, simple splices with regular wire will not fix the issue.
