7M Valve Clearance Adjustment - Stem Tipping at Machine Shop as Alternative to Shim Sourcing

After performing a valve grind on a 7M engine, all 24 valve clearances were too tight and required thinner shims than the originals. Factory shims are difficult to source in the exact sizes needed, and buying 20+ individual shims is expensive.

A valve grind removes material from valve seats, and cleaning up cam journals further tightens clearances from both directions. The original shims are then too thick to achieve proper valve lash, and sourcing the exact replacement sizes in 0.05mm increments can be extremely difficult.
