Heater Valve Failure - OEM Replacement or SC300/400 Swap

Problem
The OEM heater valve assembly on the MKIII Supra is prone to multiple failure modes over time, leading to coolant leaks at the firewall area, loss of heater function, or white smoke/steam from coolant spraying onto the exhaust manifold.
Coolant leaking down the firewallPlastic hose barb/elbow cracking or becoming soft and weeping coolantWhite cloud of steam from coolant spraying on exhaustVSV (Vacuum Switching Valve) failure causing valve to stop opening/closingHeater not producing heat or not shutting offCoolant seeping at the valve arm seal
Root Cause
The heater valve has several weak points that degrade with age: the plastic hose nipples develop a soft surface and begin to weep coolant, the valve arm seal can leak allowing coolant to drip down the firewall, hose barbs can crack from over-tightened hose clamps, and the VSV can fail electrically. The valve is an on/off design controlled by a vacuum diaphragm actuated by a VSV, allowing a tiny amount of coolant flow even when closed.
