Heater Blower Low Speed Not Working - Blower Motor Resistor Replacement

ElectricalbeginnerCommunity Verified
Problem

Heater/AC blower fan low speed does not work, while medium and high speeds function normally. This is caused by the blower motor resistor pack failing, specifically the thinnest highest-resistance coil breaking.

Low speed fan setting does not workMedium and high fan speeds work normallyNo air movement when fan switch is set to low
Root Cause

The blower motor resistor pack, located under the glove compartment, has a broken resistor coil. The thinnest, highest-resistance coil (1.3 ohm) is the one that typically fails. These wire-wound coils carry the full motor current and get hot; over time the wire breaks. This is an extremely common failure on the MK3 Supra.
