Check Engine Light (CEL) Code 52 appearing intermittently on 7MGTE, caused by degraded or damaged knock sensor wiring in the engine harness. The original shielded knock sensor wires become brittle and break down over time due to heat exposure from the exhaust side of the engine, leading to shorts or loss of signal integrity.
The factory knock sensor shielded wiring degrades over time from heat exposure (routed near exhaust manifold over valve covers), causing shorts, breaks, or loss of EMI shielding integrity that prevents the knock sensor signal from reaching the ECU properly.
