OEM Cassette Player Revival - Rubber Belt Replacement

ElectricalintermediateOP Confirmed
Problem

The OEM stock cassette player in the 1988 Supra stops working. When a cassette is inserted, playback is either non-functional or sounds slow and distorted.

Cassette player stops playing tapes entirelyAudio plays for a moment then becomes slow and distortedCassette mechanism may feel stuck or sluggish
Root Cause

The internal rubber drive belts in the OEM cassette mechanism degrade and fail over time, losing elasticity and grip. After 20-30+ years the rubber stretches, cracks, or becomes gummy, preventing the tape transport mechanism from operating at the correct speed or at all.
