Car battery was draining overnight, leaving the vehicle dead. A step light on the lower driver's side near the hood switch was also found to be staying on continuously, though the root cause was ultimately a failed alternator.
The OEM alternator had failed, no longer properly charging the battery. This caused the battery to drain overnight. A step light that was stuck on may have contributed to the drain but was not the primary cause.
