Throttle Pedal Slop and Free Play - Linkage Rod Adjustment and Bell Crank Spacer

EngineintermediateOP Confirmed
Problem

Excessive free play (approximately half an inch) in the gas pedal despite being out of slack on the throttle cable adjustment. The throttle pedal felt squishy and had side-to-side wobble. The bell crank assembly also had significant wobble due to wear.

Root Cause

Multiple sources of slop: the throttle linkage rod needed shortening to compensate for worn ball joints, the ball joints were dry and needed grease, and the bell crank (throttle link assembly) center hub had worn allowing the assembly to wobble on its shaft.
