Grinding/Creaking Noise at Full Lock Steering - Missing Steering Stop Bolt Nylon Caps

SuspensionbeginnerCommunity Verified
Problem

Grinding/creaking noise coming from the front passenger side during sharp turns at low speeds (full lock steering). Grind marks visible on upper control arms on both sides.

Root Cause

The nylon caps on the steering limiter/stopper bolts have worn away and fallen off. These caps sit on a rounded-head bolt where the steering knuckle contacts the lower control arm at full lock. Without them, the contact is metal-on-metal, causing the grinding noise.
