No-Start / No Crank on Automatic 7MGE - Neutral Safety Switch Contacts

ElectricalintermediateOP Confirmed
Problem

Automatic transmission 7MGE Supra would not crank or start when turning the key to START in Park. No click heard from the starter motor solenoid, indicating the solenoid was not pulling in. The starter relay clicked at the ON position but nothing happened at START.

Root Cause

The neutral safety switch mounted on the transmission shift linkage had dried-out factory grease and corroded copper contacts that were no longer making proper contact in the Park position. This prevented the start circuit from completing to the starter solenoid.
