Transmission Pan Leak - Replace Cork Gasket with FIPG Sealant

TransmissionintermediateOP Confirmed
Problem

Transmission oil pan was leaking after being previously sealed with an aftermarket cork gasket. The factory specification calls for FIPG (Form In Place Gasket) sealant with no formed gasket at all, and a cork gasket had been incorrectly installed during a prior service.

Root Cause

An aftermarket cork gasket had been incorrectly installed on the transmission oil pan during a previous service. The factory design uses no formed gasket — only FIPG (silicone sealant) applied directly to clean mating surfaces. Cork gaskets are known to seep oil and do not seal properly in this application.
