Gas Door Won't Open - File Down Latch Plunger to Compensate for Stretched Cable

Body/InteriorbeginnerOP Confirmed
Problem

The gas door (fuel door) release lever no longer opens the gas door due to a stretched cable. Pulling the interior lever harder eventually stops working entirely, and forcing the gas door open can bend or break it.

Gas door does not open when interior release lever is pulledLever feels like it reaches the end of travel without releasing the doorPulling harder on the lever eventually stops working altogetherGas door may need to be pried open to refuel
Root Cause

The gas door release cable stretches over time, reducing the effective pull distance at the latch. The stretched cable no longer moves the latch plunger far enough to release the gas door.
