1JZ Flooding with Fuel - Bad ECU Capacitors and Corroded Injector Grounds

ElectricalintermediateOP Confirmed
Problem

1JZ-GTE engine began misfiring while cruising on the highway, progressively worsened to running on approximately 4 cylinders, then died completely. Upon inspection, cylinders 2-6 were flooded with raw fuel. After clearing the fuel and installing new plugs and coil packs, the engine would crank but not start, and cylinders 2-6 would immediately flood with fuel again.

Root Cause

Failed/leaking capacitors in the ECU caused the ECU to malfunction, resulting in the injectors being held open and flooding cylinders with fuel. A secondary contributing factor was corroded injector ground connections on the intake manifold, which caused low voltage at injector outputs and continued fuel dumping in specific cylinders (3 and 5) even after the ECU cap repair.
