R154 ABS Speed Sensor Signal to Standalone ECU - Pull-Up Resistor and Correct Wiring

ElectricalintermediateOP Confirmed
Problem

When trying to use the R154 transmission's ABS speed sensor to feed a vehicle speed signal to a standalone ECU (Vipec, Haltech, Megasquirt, etc.), the ECU receives no signal (0 Hz logged) despite being wired to the sensor.

Standalone ECU logs zero Hz on digital input for speed signalNo vehicle speed reading on standalone ECUSpeed signal not recognized by aftermarket EMS
Root Cause

Two issues: First, the signal and power wires from the R154 ABS sensor were swapped — the white wire is the signal output (not the red wire, which is the 12V power input). Second, the hall effect sensor output requires a pull-up resistor in the circuit for the standalone ECU to read the signal properly.
