EG–400 ENGINE – 2JZ–GE ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING BASIC INSPECTION In many cases, by carrying out the basic engine check shown in the following flow chart, the location causing the problem can be found quickly and efficiently. Therefore, use of this check is essential in engine troubleshooting. If there is a problem, and a normal code is displayed, proceed to the matrix chart of problem symptoms on page EG–408. Make sure that every likely cause of the problem is checked. 1 Is battery positive voltage 11 V or more when engine is stopped? YES NO Charge or replace battery. 2 Is engine cranked? YES NO Proceed to matrix chart of problem symptoms on page EG–408. 3 Does engine start? YES NO Go to step 7. 4 Check air filter. Outside Inside MAC6BB P Remove air filter. C Visually check that the air filter is not excessive dirty or oily. Hint If necessary, clean the air filter with compressed air. First blow from inside thoroughly, then blow from outside of the air filter. OK NG Repair or replace.
