7. ASSEMBLE BOOT CLAMPS TO BOTH BOOTS (a) Be sure the boot is on the shaft groove. (b) Bend the band and lock it as shown in the figure. (c) Insure that the boot is not stretched or contracted when the drive shaft is at standard length. Standard length: 551.8 — 554.8 mm (21.724 — 21.842 in.) INSTALLATION OF REAR DRIVE SHAFT (See page RA-16) 1. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT (a) Apply MP grease to the outboard joint shaft. (b) Using a jack, raise the No. 2 suspension arm until it is horizontal. (c) First insert the outboard joint shaft to the axle hub, and then install it to the side gear shaft. HINT: Do not damage the boots. (d) Temporarily install the six washers and nuts.
