20. INSTALL OIL SEAL
(a) Using SST, install a new oil seal to the differential carrier.

(b) Apply the MP grease to a new oil seal lip.

21. INSTALL COMPANION FLANGE
Using SST and a press, install the companion flange.

NOTICE:
• Be careful not to damage the oil seal.
• Be careful not to press the bearing too far onto the drive
pinion's bearing surface.

22. ADJUST DRIVE PINION PRELOAD
(a) Coat the drive pinion's threads and a new nut's flange with
hypoid gear oil for LSD.
(b) Using SST (and a 36 mm deep socket wrench), tighten the
nut.

(c) Using SST (or a 36 mm deep socket) and a torque wrench,
measure the drive pinion preload.

2.0–2.5 N·m (20–25 kgf·cm, 17.3–21.7 in.·lbf)

1.2–1.8 N·m (12–18 kgf·cm, 10.8–16.0 in.·lbf)
